Thip Khao has set a high standard on what to expect from Laotian cuisine, especially this being our first time. Many dishes are similar to what is found in Thai cuisine. Their chicken wings were outstanding and was the star of the experience. We look forward to revisiting and trying their beef jerky and other staples!

The Laotian food here was fantastic and the menu offered a good mix of approachable SEA cuisine and more adventurous options. My one complaint about Thip Khao is the location. Columbia Heights is not what it used to be and getting here was tough. We got two starters, one noodle, and two mains for a group of four - which came out to less than $40pp including tip! Very reasonable for this quality of food in DC. Definitely try the beef jerky - it was delicious! Will repeat

We had a great meal at Thip Khao! We were a group of 4 and shared some apps, then ordered our own main dishes. We started with piing (chicken skewers), chuenh peek gai (chicken wings) and nahm tok salad. The meat on the skewers and salad were tender and so flavorful. The wings were very crispy and had a really good sauce on it. It also came with sticky rice. For my main dish I ordered the kee mao (drunken noodles) with chicken which was good and a good portion too. For drinks I had their Thai iced tea which was delicious and sweet. Service was great and we were checked on regularly. I made a reservation about 5 days in advance and it looks like they book up quick! It would be tough to grab a same day res so I recommend booking in advance.

Sticky rice, flavorful meats, and curry options! Have always loved their salads and red curry. I recently tried their herbal medicinal drink🫣 strong and delicious! This spot is a must-try, who knows it might just become your favorite date night or pick me up spot!

A real taste of authentic Laos food restaurant and not just at a family home. Love the pungent and strong earthy flavors as well as the fermented fish. Make sure you can handle the flavor and most definitely handle the heat. I love love love it!
