We chose VC for a semi fancy birthday dinner downtown, and it did not disappoint! I think everyone enjoyed their dinner, I sure did. I tried the shrimp and grits, which was super yummy. We also tried the Korean lollipops, green chili arancini, chicken marsala, and the farmhouse chicken (split between two kids, perfect), it was ALL good (yes I picked at everyone's plate, lol! ). Not to mention, our service was impeccable. I wish I hadn't forgotten her name, but she was super friendly, attentive, and accommodating, especially for the kids. I would certainly return to try some of their other items. 👍

My fiance picked the restaurant to celebrate my birthday and like other reviews said, they made us feel special from the moment we came in. They told my happy birthday as we checked in, brought us to a lovely corner booth with a birthday wish. The service was fantastic, our server was very lovely and attentive. Gave my a free desert of cheesecake which was fabulous. They do steaks very well, we both ordered steak, I got the NY strip, and my partner got the Bavette. The sides are extras and good, but enough to share between 2. We got the fries and smashed potatoes. I should have asked but I thought the smashed potatoes would be a form of ‘mashed potatoes’ but no they were just kind of squished potatoes with seasoning. Still good. Cheesecake was fine, unremarkable, but I am not a big cheesecake fan. Best part was the whipped cream. I got a glass of Prosecco and it was good, partner got a virgin cinnamon drink. Total ended up being about $138.

We had a fantastic overall experience here. We went here because of Restaurant Week and my wife's birthday, and we WILL be back. Great bar area. Spacious, cool vibe, and classy. I apologize for no pictures of that area. The bartenders were on point, without a doubt, and, more importantly, very cohesive and fluid in their chemistry. It was busy at the bar, and their efforts were effortless. Our primary bartender was Buckles, and his personality was clever and welcoming, and his efficiency was flawless. Simona (I think) popped in here and there, and she was great also. The food. Please understand my pics are of the Restaurant Week portions, so yours will have more. My wife's drink was tasty, and the presentation was elegant. Wife got the calamari, and I was jealous. It was served the way we prefer, and the sauce was magnificent. But, then I tasted my elote corn chowder, and my jealously dimmed, as mine was just as good. Wife got the steak for the second course. There was a little too much fat in it for her taste, but I tried it and the seasoning was fantastic, and I loved the taste. I got the chicken marsala, and I don't even like mushrooms very much. It was awesome. I made my mind forget that it had mushrooms in it, and enjoyed it immensely. For dessert, she got the brulee and I got the bread pudding. No complaints, and both were solid. My wife said these words "this is the best dessert I have had in...a long time." The manager even checked in with us as we were leaving (Scholl?), and he was extremely nice and you sensed his great personality and proficiency in his leadership in the thirty second conversation I had with him. Just a heads up, because I am a sports guy, that the place doesn't have TV's, So, separate your life from sports for an hour or two and go here for the experience. I would highly recommend Velvet Cellar, and we can't wait to come back to check out happy hour.

Everything here was hands down delicious. The fries were amazing and adding salmon to my salad was the move. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything you order. The only thing I didn’t like was the service was very slow.
