I came here twice recently. The first time, it didn’t feel like my server understood the menu well. I asked about the beer garden and other things like the sake bomb and his answers were confusing. Regardless of all that, the vibe of the restaurant was great. We got the seafood tartar, potato salad, ribs and the wow gyu uni donabe. We also got some pretty drinks but frankly they were a bit too sweet. The food flavors made up for it BUT we did get a seafood tartar with dirt still in the roots of the micro greens. I sent it back and they redid it but honestly I felt they should have comp’d it. Having been in the service industry for years, it honestly was a major quality check issue but they brushed it off like it was nothing but an apology. We still paid for the dish. The flavors of the food made up for it. The items we had were decent enough for us to be willing to come back. We had friend coming into town that loves izakaya type restaurants so we took a risk to come back to try the beer garden and this time the experience was much better! Ken, our server was on point; the pace of the beer garden dishes were great, and you can’t beat all you can drink for 1.5 hours. All the food for the beer garden experience was great too! Thanks Ken for making our second experience much better! Recs: The sauce they had on the edamame was delicious! The karage breading was bomb. Definitely recommend the skewers. Potato salad was good with the potato chip textures. I wouldn’t go out of my way for the wow donabe or seafood tartar. The cocktails are a bit on the sweeter end.

We visited this restaurant for my mother’s birthday. The interior was beautiful, and the creative dishes were delicious, all at a relatively affordable price. The staff, in particular, were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to celebrate my mother’s birthday. I haven't encountered many restaurants in LA with such a strong sense of hospitality. I am truly grateful to all the staff. Despite having drinks for three people, the bill was fairly reasonable at around $190. If you're reading this review and considering whether to visit this restaurant, I can confidently say you won't regret it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an incredible dining experience largely thanks to our server and general manager, Savior. He made us feel welcome and truly immersed us in the culture behind the cuisine. Each dish was insanely delicious thoughtfully made and presented to perfection! The sashimi and any skewer on the menu are a must. Savior took the time to explain the menu in a way that honored the traditions for each dish. His passion for the food and the overall experience made our meal feel special. I can’t recommend him and this restaurant enough. If you’re looking for a fantastic meal paired with genuine hospitality, you have to try Taberu!

The food was great. The unagi was packed with flavor. The spare ribs were soft enough to cut with chopsticks. Savior our server was incredible. Very charismatic and attentive despite the restaurant being packed.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience at Taberu Japanese restaurant I tried out recently. Overall, I had mixed feelings about my visit. The food at the restaurant was certainly unique, catering to those with a particular taste. Our waiter was pleasant and kind, which added to the positive aspects of the visit. However, I must admit that I was disappointed with a few aspects of the experience. Despite having made a reservation, the food took an unusually long time to arrive, leading to a significant wait time. Additionally, I found the drink options to be quite limited, which was a bit of a letdown. One aspect of the location that I found off-putting was the surrounding area. To get to the restaurant, we had to drive past a large number of homeless individuals, which made me feel uncomfortable. While I don't want to speak negatively about the restaurant, I have to admit that this particular establishment may not be the right fit for me. I appreciate the experience for what it was, but I don't think I will be returning in the future.
