Specialties: Seafood and local cuisine topped off with a scenic view of the beautiful St. John's River. Established in 1954. The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and in 1988, a new building was constructed by Dwayne Williams, who owned La Cruise Casino and Restaurant in Mayport. He kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood at a low price. Today, under that same direction from the original owner, we look forward to bringing back the same great seafood that The Sandollar brought in when it opened. We are proud to be serving our local community for over 15 years now and will continue to give back and assure our locals that the next decade will be even better.

The Sand Dollar Restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you step in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. The service is top-notch—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I had the Mahi Mahi, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Perfectly cooked, incredibly fresh, and bursting with flavor, it was easily one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had. The seasoning was just right, complementing the natural taste of the fish without overpowering it. Every bite was a delight! Beyond the food, the ambiance of the restaurant adds to its charm. Whether you’re dining inside or enjoying the coastal breeze outside, the setting is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. If you’re looking for a place that serves outstanding seafood with great service and a fantastic atmosphere, The Sand Dollar Restaurant is a must-visit!

Great environment and awesome staff. Beautiful views of the water as well. We ate lite this time, only had the oysters but they were fresh & delicious. Wish they would rebuild the docks so that people could come by boat again, that would be great.

My Dinner Experience at Sandollar Restaurant. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sandollar Restaurant, and it was truly a memorable evening. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a beautiful waterfront view that set the tone for a relaxing meal. The service was attentive and friendly — the staff made sure we were comfortable and answered all our questions about the menu. For dinner, I ordered [insert what you ordered], and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. We also enjoyed stuff mushrooms as an appetizer, which complemented the meal perfectly. What stood out most was the combination of great food, excellent service, and the serene setting. Overall, Sandollar Restaurant provided a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special place to enjoy dinner by the water.
