I’m just here to join the throngs of adoring fans and shower praise upon “the sandwich.” It really is fantastic. It’s a masterclass in simplicity, using high quality ingredients, starting with crusty bread. The meats and cheeses are cut super thin and layered to perfection. The only condiment used is a drizzle of olive oil. All that for $6. I defy you to find a higher quality sandwich for $6. I’ve had it twice in the past week, and last week was my first time.

This is a small specialty market selling Italian food. The place is well known for its delicious inexpensive Italian sandwiches that are prepared every morning. A lot of people buy these sandwiches so they usually run out by lunch time. The market has a great selection of Imported cookies, bread, pasta, oils canned goods and bottled items. I’ve never tried their frozen pasta and store made sauces but I can vouch for their delicious prosciutto that is sliced on the spot. This is the place to go for charcuterie in Pasadena.

Are you kidding me?! This, simple pink wrapped sandwich, is the best! The story behind it is even better, and how it became a cult classic. I drove 145 miles to pick some up, and well, take care of a few other errands. The owner is still at the store helping out. You will see him straight away. Say hello!

Updated 4/5/25 Simple, perfect, best bang for your buck, what else can I say. Bread is perfect and meat to bread ratio is like a science. Ordered a couple of extra rolls to go and was surprised how good the bread alone was. Always say the bread makes the sandwich, but the bread alone would make a fine meal. They have one with seeds and one without and was surprised how different they were. Assumed that the seeds were the only difference, but textures were a bit different as well. I heard they even have a sourdough, but was sold out when I went, so I’m definitely on a mission to go back and try it. Will have to pick up “the sandwich” just because while I’m there. ——- Finally made it to Roma for “the” sandwich and it did not disappoint. I ate the whole thing almost before I left the parking lot. The bread, the quality meat, the price (only $6 flat) all add to the experience. One of the best in LA for sure. Looking forward to trying something different the next time, but for first timers, the premade is the way to go.

Amazing selection, subs are cheap and delicious. I ate mine in the parking lot and it was so good I went back in and got 2 more for later.
