A place I have to travel across the state to visit, and it is worth it every time. The zwiebelrostbraten is immaculate, the best item on the menu in my opinion. Meat and onions so tender they melt in your mouth and your palate sings. A mug of cider to warm up from the cold followed by a Stein of beer for the meal complimented everything well. Unparalleled on this side of the Atlantic.

The food and service are always excellent at Metzger's! It can get crowded and noisy at times but that never affects the quality or service in any way. If you want a delicious German meal, this is the perfect place to go. Prices are a bit high but it's such great food, great service, and food that you can't get anywhere else that they know they can charge higher prices.

This homey German restaurant is an incredible piece of Ann Arbor history. I highly recommend the Copenhagen Schnitzel and Kasespätzel. I usually love Jägerschnitzel, but I would not recommend it here (the gravy doesn't have enough mushroom or beer for my liking). The potato pancakes were lovely fluffy delights, but they are more on the floury/pancake side. The prime rib here is also very good. Service is attentive and friendly, but be aware that they might have their hands full if it's a busy Saturday evening!

This place is great!! It's very authentically German so much so you will use this as a judge when you visit any other German restaurants! If you have time for a quick bite and a beer I highly recommend the bar area.

I had the German Sauerbraten and the Pig Hock. The Sauerbraten was okay—not bad, but not especially memorable. The Pig Hock however, was excellent—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with a great sauce. The German-style cucumber salad and potato pancakes were also quite good. The atmosphere had a classic German charm that added to the experience and the service was excellent.
