I don't know where to start or how to explain my experience. Here goes, I was referred to Shawn and Matt through a friend. I spoke to Shawn first and he was understanding, empathetic, and motivated to take my case. I worked mostly (about 99.99%) with Matt Martin and he was very professional and available to me at all times. I never had any doubt. I told him what I wanted to do and he took charge. I was up front and honest with Matt. I did everything he told me to do. All I asked, is there would be no plea deals. I've always believed that innocent people don't plea. I've never been in a situation like I was before. Nor had any of my family or friends. From my experiences, you have to be your own lawyer and investigator as well. At least be familiar with some of the legal documents. Also, gather whatever you can. Phone records, doorbell camera footage, text messages, anyone who was in the area, etc. Matt took everything I had, even my story in greater detail. I did not forgot a thing, every detail is key. That night sticks with me to this day. Matt will tell you, "we tell the truth". And that's all we had. After nine months, going back and forth to court, the DDA (through Matt's work) agreed to drop charges that a lot of lawyers told me would never get dropped. Note: yes, I did reach out to a couple lawyers beforehand and most told me this case would never get dropped and either would get settled through a plea deal or going to trial. Matt was able to get my case dismissed and records sealed. I went through hell, it was rough. I truly believe Matt was put in my life by God. He believed in me because I told him the truth and nothing but the truth. He's the guy I would go into battle with any day, at any time, for any reason. I hired Matt to be my lawyer, in the end, he became my friend. Matt (and Shawn), if you ever need anything, I am there for you. Thank you for being there for me and allowing me to continue my life after that nightmare.
