The food at Lapis was really great — flavorful, well-prepared, and definitely the highlight of the evening. The restaurant has a stylish and inviting atmosphere; I really liked the interior design. That said, the service felt a bit average — not unfriendly, but not particularly warm either, especially for a slightly higher-priced place. Cocktails were okay, wine was quite good. The noise level was on the louder side.

Easily one of the best meals we had in DC. We were in a group of 8 and shared all the dishes. Everthing was great, and I just forgot to take more pictures. The classic dumplings were excellent and I highly recommend. The palow (rice with lamp) was very different from any other rice place I ever tried. It was very tasty and memorable. The pumpkin Bolani was also amazing!

Loved the atmosphere of the downstairs dining room! The portions are great to share, we got the starter tester flight to try one of each of the appetizers, they were wonderful…the botani flat bread was our favorite! Then we shared the Buranee bademjan (eggplant) and Gabuli palow (boneless lamb). The eggplant and sauce was amazing!! We loved the gabuli, but wished there was some more lamb. Overall, a lovely place! 😊

A foodie friend recommended this spot but we didn’t think we’d get in…it was packed! Luckily we did (the staff was so friendly and accommodating) and the experience was worth the anticipation. The restaurant is much larger than we thought with multiple bars and seating downstairs. We ordered the sample appetizer which gave us the opportunity to try everything. We enjoyed the potato and onion appetizer the most. For my entree I ordered the okra stew which was hearty and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the grilled steak, lamb and chicken. He loved every bite. We were too stuffed for dessert but would definitely try to coconut rice pudding. Lapis is a 10/10. We would definitely recommend as a must try while visiting Washington, DC.
