Their food was very tasty, but they do have a limited menu. It also is on the pricier side. I had the scallops and they were very delicious. One thing that did surprise us is that they have no dessert menu. The restaurant itself is a very aesthetic place.

Dovetail is a nice spot to have in the navy yard, but we have had hit or miss meals there. In the past the pork Milanese was good, but the other night it was super dry. Then the scallops dish was an excellent meal, but 3 scallops on a $40 dish is a bit skimpy to me. Recently I got a Mexican soup there at the bar that was excellent but we also got a go chu hang noodle dish on special that was pretty bad. The half duck is a solid meal and one I would recommend if going as it’s been consistent. Focaccia bread and the Nduja toast have also been consistently good. Steamed mussels were also good, not the best ever but would recommend if you’re in the mood for them. It is a local spot for us, but getting tougher to recommend as the food experience there varies so much! Atmosphere is nice and relaxing, rarely overcrowded and the staff has always been good.

I've made it to Dovetail a couple of times over the past few years but something is different these days- the food has never been better. Every dish is expertly executed, thoughtfully thought out, and delightfully served. It was such a treat to watch the Chef send dish-after-perfect-dish to excited tables eagerly lapping up every morsel. The focaccia, asparagus and cavatelli plates were everything to write home about and highly recommended for anybody exploring this incredibly inventive menu while wondering what to order. Kudos to the team for an A+ experience from start to finish. I will be yapping about the food I tried today for years to come!

We’ve been coming here regularly for the last four years. The food, the service and the atmosphere are all FIVE STARS. My favorite is the Pork Milanese for dinner (they do change it a bit but it’s always exquisite), but the steak, the pasta, the snapper, the bread (which is made fresh daily) are all excellent options!
