Visited again on 12/10/23. Great service from May and delicious food. Update 3/11/2023 Great food as always, but VERY rushed by the waitress From 2020 We had a party of 10 tonight and were put in a private room. Everyone was very pleased with their meals. The Baoding duck was excellent. Not spicy and not sweet. The duck was very tender and served with a nice side of vegetables. The Generals chicken. Was the best I have ever had and consisted of large pieces of white meat. The white and brown rice was served family style and there was plenty of it. Service was very good and pricing was well worth it. This is one of the best Asian restaurants in the area.

Overall, 4.5 stars! Some really good Chinese food! They have a blend of authentic and American style dishes. Their authentic items are delicious. If you are a fan of PEKING DUCK (they list it as Beijing Duck. Same thing), hands down this is the premiere Charlotte location. Since some of the best locations closed down during COVID, this is one of 2-3 locations in 50 miles that serve Peking duck in the greater Charlotte area. Also, they offer both the buns OR the wraps for the duck dish. Most only offer the bao buns. That alone gives this place a 5 star and most unique experience. Their Mapo Tofu is so good!!! But I have to say their Singaporean noodles didn’t seem authentic. The curry was basically powdered on top and the meat wasn’t seasoned so they just didn’t complement each other the way it might have if they used a curry sauce. It was still flavorful but didn’t hit the spot with me. There is a nice ambiance inside, but definitely needs a face lift. If this was located on Central Avenue I would not notice the interior, but right outside of South Park, it feels out of place a little. Super busy spot and it gets crowded/cramped inside easily if you’re not at a booth due to the odd layout design. We were at a table for 6 and tucked in the weirdest spot. Nothing wrong and we were comfy but it was oddly positioned and inconvenient. The old carpet reminded me of those old Chinese buffet restaurants back in the day. All the employees were GREAT! Their food is cooked really well but may have some flavors that aren’t for you. Stick to your favorites and I can tell you, you won’t be disappointed. Lastly, you MUST TRY the Peking Duck. That actually is a highly recommended dish!

The food was pretty authentic, they gave me a 2025 calendar as gift, now I have to teach my friends how to read it. 🤣 Overall it was great, 4.5 out of 5, Chinese approved. Minor complaint: my fortune cookie was empty. 🤣

This restaurant sets the bar high for premium Chinese dining. The menu offers an impressive selection of contemporary dishes, each prepared with high-quality ingredients and bold flavors. Service is exceptionally fast. The location is convenient, and the ample parking makes it hassle-free to visit, even during peak hours. Whether you’re here for a business dinner or a special night out, the refined atmosphere and delicious food make it a top choice.

I have the pleasure of Baoding since the opening in 1993. This is my “go to” for good Chinese. I have celebrated many birthdays with friends and family and have favorites. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and attentive. The food excellent, tasty and reasonably priced. The atmosphere has always been welcoming. My favorites include Baoding Shrimp, Basil Rolls, Hot & Sour Soup, Tangerine, Kong Po, Thai Curry, Moo Shu, Asian, Hunsn or Szechuan dishes. The last visit was Moo Shu and I was pleased they were served filled already. I can’t say which protein I prefer because I rotate from chicken to beef to shrimp and occasionally pork. Small but added bonus: Baoding doesn’t upcharge for brown rice. One day I’ll try some of the others I didn’t mention like Chow Mein, etc.
