Specialties: American Elm is a neighborhood eatery and bar that offers elevated fare in a relaxed setting. Come in for a casual happy hour hang, date night cocktails, snacks or a full service dinner shared with family and friends. Enjoy American Elm's modern personality and exemplary service under the canopy of the American Elm in our outdoor seating area and garden or inside the modern, cozy interior. Established in 2019. The vision for American Elm was born of owner Bob Reiter's time in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The neighborhood's vibrant and eclectic mix of artists and professionals, imports and old school neighborhood residents gave rise to a unique version of the American Bistro that had been a staple in the New York City since the '80s. What differentiated these restaurants was the level of service and quality offered in a laid back environment that catered to all aspects of the diners neighborhood. These experiences helped Reiter shape the ethos of American Elm; a hospitality focused, neighborhood bar and eatery serving elevated fare in an modest and welcoming atmosphere. Our menu is rooted in the classics and our elevated casual service is rooted in the fundamental belief that every person who comes through the door is our most important guest.

5 out of 5 stars!!! This place is amazing! Highly recommend. Our server Sarah was fantastic, she really made the experience memorable. We will be back just for her! The food was outstanding. We had the tiger shrimp for an appetizer, perfectly succulent with a great scampi sauce and the toasted bread was spot on. For dinner we enjoyed their seared scallops with butternut squash purée, and their house made pasta with walnut pesto absolutely outstanding. The star of the show for me was their house made crème brûlée. Will be back to try the rest of their incredible menu.

What a wonderful evening! We sat at the bar to have a glass of wine and was able to sample some before we committed to a glass. Wonderful selection of wines! We also shared a bunch of small plates that were to die for. Great place for a drink and small plate to share with fun and creative dishes.

Very good service and food. The ambience and general noise of the restaurant was loud to the point of having to lean in for casual conversation. Drinks were great as well. Asked for dessert to go and got the most laughably small serving of cheesecake that I don’t even think it was worth ordering at all. Would give them another shot but overall just a good, not great, experience.

The atmosphere is cool and relaxing and the food is great. But our waitress, Sara, made our experience outstanding! She took exceptional care of us and went above and beyond to make us feel special. Can’t wait to go back!

I am really happy that I decided to check this place out. I lived in the neighborhood for almost two years and never stopped in. I feel that I missed out on some good food. I had a reservation for 4:30 on a Friday, however didn't need it, as I was the only person in the restaurant. For an appetizer I started off with the crispy pork belly 5.5/10. The pork belly had a bit of fat and was just alright, it would not be my first choice if I went back. The next appetizer I got was the corn fritters, which were excellent 8/10. I feel that these were a little different than other fritters that I have had, more doughy, but I enjoyed them. I also sampled both an east and west coast oysters, which were both wonderful 10/10. For my entrée I had the crispy trout almondine, which was excellent 9.5/10. The fish was well coated, had great flavor and paired well with the sides. For an additional side dish I tried the brown butter carrots 7/10, pretty good. For dessert I tried the special banana buttermilk pie, this was really special 10/10. I am happy that I came here. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. All of the staff were extremely nice and friendly. I look forward to finding an occasion to come back for... hopefully in the near future.
