A Table For 8

The Hudson Cafe I’ve been to the Troy location twice this year and I’ve been pleased both times. The first I came is pictured. I forgot to take pictures from Christmas Eve. We had a very nice and awesome server by the name of Jas. I ordered the corned beef hashed both times with grits and upgraded pancakes. In the pictures I got blueberry pancakes and they were delicious. The second time it was the cinnamon roll pancake. They were so sweet, crunchy, and delicious. The cream cheese icing was paired perfect. No need for syrup. The grits were creamy, cheesy and thick. The corn beef hash had little pieces of potatoes. I wish it were more but you can’t complain about all the meat. Now my eggs weren’t cooked to my liking. I always ask for light fluffy eggs. They have a nice bar not full. I tried the mimosa with hypnotic. I liked it got it both times I went. But overall it was good.

We stopped by Hudson Cafe for a quick brunch and had a pretty good experience. The service was efficient and friendly, and the place was clean with a nice ambiance and good music. I ordered the Mexican omelette, which was really flavorful and well-made. The hash brown dish, on the other hand, left me feeling torn—it was somewhere between “I like this” and “I don’t.” Overall, it was a solid spot, and I’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu!

We ordered Strawberry Nutella Crepes, Triple Triple Omelette, Red Velvet Pancakes, Traditional Benny and a side cream cheese for pancake which they charged $1.50 which I thought should be free. All dishes ordered were yum and delivered fast. We had a table reserved ahead of time. I highly suggest to reserve it as we saw people waiting for long. The vibe was good. Payton C was helping us, she was patient when we took our time to order our food. Kept checking if the food was ok, if we need anything else and etc. Pricing Strawberry Nutella - $13.50 Triple Triple Omelette - $16.00 Side Pancake - Red Velvet - $3.00 Traditional Benny - $14.00 side sauce - $1.50

This is an alright breakfast spot if you don't mind neighbors! You're packed in like sardines, the staff is nice, and the food is pretty good. The (custom) Chunky Monkey Red Velvet pancakes are super sweet, but they're also very tasty with all those toppings. The Bacon Jam Omelet isn't very meat forward, but the brie cheese inside steals the show and makes this worth trying. The sweet potato fries aren't really fries since they're completely soft, but you'll like them if you like sweet potatoes!

As a fan of the original Hudson Cafe in Detroit, I was excited to see a new location open in Troy—much closer and more convenient! The space has a clean, modern feel (not much personality, though) with a reasonable amount of seating, though it does get busy, especially during peak brunch or lunch hours. Thankfully, it’s not quite as packed as the Detroit location (where I once waited over an hour), but I still highly recommend making a reservation online. It’s quick and easy—just search for the spot on Google and click “Reserve a Table.” There’s plenty of parking thanks to the structure right next door, but during busy hours, finding a spot in the garage might take a few minutes. Inside, the ceilings are tall and the layout includes a mix of high-top and low-top tables, plus high chairs for little ones. The space is not huge and can get a bit noisy when it fills up, but the energy is lively, not overwhelming. The staff was friendly and the menu has a wide variety of both sweet and savory options, along with coffee, cocktails, and a small kids menu. Pricing is a bit on the higher side. I have included pictures of the menu. I ordered the Very Berry Stuffed French Toast ($16), which was topped with fresh berries and filled with a cream cheese spread and banana slices. While the portion wasn’t huge for the price, the ingredients were fresh and well-balanced. I do remember enjoying the cream cheese filling more in the past, but the dish was still satisfying and flavorful. Overall, I had a great experience and plan to come back to try more items from the menu. If you’re looking for a bright, tasty brunch spot north of Detroit, The Hudson Cafe in Troy is definitely worth a visit.
