With pizzas coming straight off the bricks of our 21 year old oven, Protos Denver serves the best in thin-crust Colorado pizza (our style, if you're wondering, features a strong connection to the New Haven pizza scene). Every Friday night is Clam Pizza Night: clams, garlic, oregano and the option of adding bacon and caramelized onions--paired with a $25 bottles of chianti, pinot noir, pinot grigio or the house red and finished with either homemade cannoli or our tiramisu in a glass...there's a reason our regulars show up week-in and week-out! When it's warm out, or if you are just Colorado-strong, you can enjoy your self on our patio. No reservations and no delivery--we truly believe our pizza is best experienced 10 feet from our oven, though we happily accept take-out orders and offer half-baked pizzas for you to finish off at home! When you come in, be sure to check out the blackboards, curated by local artist Heather Penhale, for our rotating Colorado draft beer options, limited/eclectic wine bottle specials, and cocktail features! Never forget, $9 Negronis every day! Established in 2003. The Denver outpost of Proto's Pizza was opened by Pam Proto and Rayme Rosello in 2003 and has remained a beloved fixture of Platte Street ever since. Now under the ownership of the location's original GM, Jonathan Greschler, Protos Denver is sought out for its thin-crust, Colorado take on the pizzas of the northeast. Also featuring fresh salads, house made desserts, and imported gelato, our Lo-Hi location is convenient to Ball Arena, Empower Field and Coors Field.

I love this spot! The bar is so cool and their staff members are great. Their $25 house wine is SO good. I definitely recommend getting their medium pizza over their small.. Their small pizzas are mostly crust. I love their salad with the tuna. One of my favorite things on the menu. Solid spot!

My partner and I are coming from out of town and found this cozy and warm pizza place. Everything about this place felt welcoming and on top of that we had an amazing server! Steven was wonderful and on top of his game. He even gave us amazing recommendations to check around town while we are here. Also don’t get me started on the food, the savory panini and The Atomica pizza were so good. Best pizza in town for sure! The cerebral beer was very light and easy to drink too. The cannoli and tiramisu are a must order, very good and not too sweet and just the right amount of goodness. Thank you Steven for making our first night in Denver amazing!

Such an amazing place with the best service from the owner John. He made us feel right at home and I loved talking to him. The pizza was one of the best I have ever had. Definitely go here when you're in Denver!

If you're ever in downtown, make sure to stop by one of our absolute favorite pizza spots! We've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Jon, the owner, is a solid guy – even if he’s a Yankees fan (just kidding, we still like him). The pizzas are always on point, but the real secret? Don’t skip the ice cream cookie sandwich. We always pair ours with the carmel gelato, and it’s incredible. Seriously, it's a game-changer – you’ll want to order one immediately. Now, we get it, some folks might grumble about the prices, especially for sodas, but hey, welcome to downtown! It’s just part of the territory. At least here, you're getting top-notch quality for your buck. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and pop in, you won’t regret it!

I’ve been coming to Proto’s Pizza in Denver for over 20 years, and it’s still my go-to spot for the best pizza around. Everyone has their favorite style of pizza, so it’s impossible to please everyone—but Proto’s nails it for me every time. The quality has never wavered—always consistent, never greasy, and the thin crust is absolute perfection. They offer a fantastic variety of fresh toppings and creative blends that keep things interesting, while still mastering the classics. It’s rare to find a place that delivers such great flavor and consistency year after year. Proto’s is a true gem!
