I had heard how great blacksalt is and finally decided to give them a try. I was super happy to find out the hype was real. The oysters we got were fantastic, probably the best I’ve had in Maryland. The seafood stew was amazing, I wish I could have that every day. The broth is so flavorful, I highly recommend. The shrimp that was in my stew was the only negative, it didn’t taste right but everything else was so good I didn’t even care. For the main I got the soft shell crab which was so tasty and my husband got the crab cakes which he loved. We will definitely be back. Service was also great.

We were in town on business and wanted to have seafood for dinner. We found Blacksalt and couldn’t be happier! Our waiter was amazing… attentive and friendly. He happily recommended his favorite dishes which didn’t disappoint. We ordered the seafood cocktail appetizer and split the mussels. Without asking they split the bowl of mussels for us. The timing was also perfect, cold app first, then mussels. First course cleared and entrees of the Black Cod special and crab cakes which were also amazing. We finished up with with the key lime pie and strawberry gateau for dessert… again, amazing. With each course new silverware was cleared and replaced, dropped napkins replaced before I even had a chance to try and pick it up. The only issue we had was an ordered cappuccino that didn’t make it to the table but the staff was overly apologetic and swiftly removed it from the bill. Would definitely recommend! It had the atmosphere and feeling as a neighborhood joint that they are trying to keep a secret.

I love Black Salt. I’ve been several times and they have never disappointed me. The service is impeccable, the food is scrumptious, and the atmosphere is what one would expect of any restaurant in the Palisades. But before we start with the restaurant itself let’s have a moment of silence for the fresh seafood market located in the front of the house. They have a variety of fresh seafood ranging from scallops, clams, oysters to fish. My last visit I ordered pan seared scallops that were seasoned and cooked to perfection and clam chowder. Or should I say Black Salt’s spin on clam chowder. The base itself was flavorful, the clams were deep fried and it has bits of BACON through out the chowder. Yes, I said bacon and we all know bacon makes everything better. If you were thinking about visiting Black Salt this is your sign to do so!

Tucked along the winding elegance of the Potomac Palisades Parkway, Blacksalt Saloon is the sort of place you arrive at expecting a solid meal—and leave with the conviction that Poseidon himself must be on the kitchen staff. This isn’t dinner; it’s a symphony. A salt-kissed, butter-brushed, elegantly plated opera of oceanic bliss. And spoiler alert: it’s a 20/10 experience. Yes, we’re breaking the scale. Let’s begin where every good oceanic romance begins: the mussels. These aren’t your average mollusks clinging to relevance in a garlic broth. No, these are plump, proud, and bathing in a broth so rich and flavorful you’ll start negotiating with your spoon for full custody. Sop it up with crusty bread and you’ll consider writing sonnets about seafood. Then comes the tempura lobster—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and clearly battered by angels. It crunches like a golden whisper and melts like a promise. Paired with a tangy dipping sauce, it walks the tightrope between indulgent and ethereal. If you’re sharing this, rethink your relationships. Next, the diver scallops. Seared to a caramelized crown and nestled into a bed of something so silky you’ll think it was made by Hermes, not a chef. They are ocean sweetness, seared in love, plated with poetry. And then… the branzino. Oh, the branzino. Whole-roasted and plated like it was styled for the Met Gala of fish. The skin is crisped to perfection, the flesh delicate and fragrant with lemon and herbs. It flakes at the touch of your fork, sighing its last breath of deliciousness onto your palate. It doesn’t just taste good—it feels important. At this point, you might swear off dessert, full and spiritually satisfied. But don’t you dare. The crème brûlée awaits, its sugar crust a glossy caramel armor that shatters with the perfect tap. Inside? A custard so velvety, it rewrites what you thought you knew about vanilla. It’s a lullaby in a ramekin. Service? Impeccable. Vibes? Sophisticated but unfussy, where you can dress to impress or come as you are—and either way, feel like royalty. This is the kind of place you tell your friends about, then secretly hope they don’t all rush in and overbook your new favorite table. Blacksalt Saloon isn’t just a meal. It’s an ode to the sea. A triumph of technique. A love letter to flavor. Go hungry. Leave transformed.

After a couple days of traveling, a friend and I were craving high-quality seafood and decided to visit this restaurant based on strong recommendations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The seafood market display was visually impressive, immediately setting the tone for what would become an exceptional dining experience. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and escorted to a private dining area. Unsure of what to order, we started with three appetizers along with an Old Fashioned and a sangria. Every item we tried was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and beautifully presented—easily a 10/10 across the board. When my main course arrived—the crab cakes—I was truly impressed. The dish was bursting with flavor, expertly crafted, and among the best I’ve had. Adding to the experience, the manager personally stopped by to welcome us and express appreciation for our visit. Throughout the evening, every interaction, from our server to the management team, was professional, warm, and engaging. This restaurant not only delivers outstanding food but also cultivates a memorable, hospitable environment. My family is based in Washington, D.C., and we plan to return every time we’re in town. Highly recommended.
